With the perfect mix of old school glamour, sunshine, friends, action and champagne the races make for a stunning day out! Actually, the race wear dress code is one of my absolute favourites, I adore the elegant and classic silhouettes, the chance to embrace old school femininity while adding a fresh twist with a modern cut or fabric.
For this look I chose to go light and breezy, I couldn't resist this dress from Forever New with that stunning skirt! You could easily wear as a standalone dress but I wanted a little more detail so I've layered over a sleeveless blouse, I'm actually wearing it back to front because I loved the big bow, I think it gives it a 'race wear' edge. To make sure the blouse then finished at a flattering point on my waist I made a small knot at the back and simply tucked it under. Easy peasy. It often pays to be a bit creative with your clothing so experiment!
After choosing a soft colour palette I thought a splash of red would add an element of fashion. So against the pale pink colour tones I matched a bright red lip with my heels and this red rose corsage is made simply out of red paper that you can grab from any Whitcoulls, or pop into a Westfield florist and have them make you a fresh corsage or flower crown for the day!
