Our progress to net zero and focus on waste diversion

Scentre Group owns 42 Westfield destinations in Australia and New Zealand.

Our aim is to reduce our environmental impact and leave a positive legacy for our communities. We’re doing this through a range of initiatives, and we’re pleased to share our progress to net zero and focus on waste diversion.

Our progress to net zero

We’re taking steps to reduce our emissions, with a target to achieve net zero scope 1 and scope 2 emissions across our wholly-owned Westfield destinations by 2030. Since 2014, we’ve reduced our emissions by more than 40%. We’re working to reduce how much electricity we use by changing light fixtures to LEDs and installing thousands of rooftop solar panels.

Our focus on waste

We’re focused on recycling or reusing waste created in our Westfield destinations. In 2024, we implemented our strategic waste management plan to support us reducing our environmental impact.

Separating waste into recycling streams is key to improving how much waste we divert from landfill. We have recycling streams available for business partners and customers across our Westfield destinations. Last year we began updating our bin signage to support everyone’s efforts.
