Keep, store, buy: how to bring your wardrobe into 2018

2018 began in the most satisfying way possible: on a Monday. A fresh year, a fresh month and a fresh week. If that isn't the most motivating way to finally reach your New Year's resolutions and start the year on clean slate, we don't know what is!

One transformation you'll notice over the coming months is your wardrobe or, more specifically, your personal style. With a new year comes new fashion trends and suddenly we're looking at the pieces we loved in 2017 wondering what on earth we were thinking.

As we step into 2018, it's time to give our closets a refresh. What are we going to do with all those trends we've accumulated over time? We break it down for you, so you know exactly what you can continue wearing through summer, what you should store until the cooler months and what you should buy now to create the ultimate 2018 wardrobe.

There are plenty of things we can bring from 2017 right on in to 2018. Praise the fashion gods! Here are the ones we love most:

  • Stripes
  • Statement earrings
  • Twin sets
  • Sneakers
  • Graphic tees

While we're still lusting over these trends, our hot Australian summer isn't allowing us to wear them as often. But don't worry, they'll be back bigger than ever when winter rolls around.

  • Check print
  • Sock boots or printed boots
  • Relaxed suiting
  • Chokers
  • Sweats and athleisure

Here are some of the newer key trends you can introduce to your wardrobe for now and for later. They are based on what our friends in the northern hemisphere are wearing now, as well as a few updates to some outdated trends we once loved.

  • Lavender
  • Denim jackets with denim jeans
  • High-waisted pants or linen pants
  • Ruffles – step aside, off-the-shoulder trend!
  • Sparkly makeup
