The heat was on at the Kiwi Kids Can Cook National Grand Final

The heat was on at the Kiwi Kids Can Cook National Grand Final held on Sunday 11th August at Westfield Manukau as the crowds watched the young culinary stars compete!

Contestants from all over New Zealand competed in an exciting live cook off in our very own Centrecourt. The competition was fierce as the New Zealand Chef's Association searched for New Zealand's hottest junior chef.

The cook off competitors included winners from regional heats, budding chefs in Year's 1-8, competed against other kids of their own age group from all over the country.

At the end of the challenging cook off the grand finale’s overall junior winner was Mia North from Dunedin who created a delicious vegetable Koshari. The overall senior winner Erynn May from Palmerston North showed off her skills with her parsnip and sticky date pudding. Both beautiful dishes were put together in under thirty minutes during an intense cook off!

Westfield Manukau would like to congratulate the Kiwi Kids Can Cook National Champions of 2019 and all of those participated. We would also like to thank everyone who contributed the success of the event, it was an awesome celebration and a great showcase of our up and coming culinary stars in New Zealand.

The New Zealand Chef's Association and Westfield Manukau believe that ‘Kiwi Kids Can Cook’! In fact, over the years this competition's been running, we have realised that kids can cook THE MOST amazing dishes! It is our aim to get our kids ‘hooked on cooking’ at a primary school age, to help nurture those that have natural talent and promote healthy eating.
