Serves two

Ingredients:
1 avocado, seed removed
2 tbsp natural yoghurt
1 handful baby spinach
2-3 tbsp fresh lime juice
1 tsp organic maple syrup
1 C ice
1 tsp matcha
1 tbsp greens powder
1 tbsp protein powder

Toppings:
Kiwi fruit
Blueberries
Yoghurt to serve

Method:

  1. Combine avocado, yoghurt, baby spinach, lime juice, maple syrup, ice, matcha, greens powder and protein powder in a high-speed blender. Blitz until smooth and creamy.
  2. Spoon into two serving bowls. Top with sliced kiwi fruit, blueberries and a dollop of yoghurt to serve.

Hide your kale smoothie

Designed to camouflage the taste and texture of kale, this recipe by @minimalistbaker is essentially a green smoothie in disguise. Promising a hefty four serves of health-boosting fruit and veg in one meal, it has garnered glowing reviews. The key to its success is pomegranate juice – apparently nothing masks the taste of kale quite like it!

Serves two

Ingredients:
1 medium ripe banana
½ C frozen mixed berries
1 tbsp hulled hemp seeds
2 C frozen or fresh kale
⅔ C pomegranate juice
¾ - 1 ½ C filtered water

Method:

  1. Add all ingredients to a blender and blitz until smooth, adding more water as needed. Taste and adjust – add more banana or agave syrup for sweetness. To boost fat and protein content, add 1 tbsp of almond butter.
  2. Serve immediately.

Immunity orange, carrot and ginger juice

We’ve all heard about the health benefits of increasing our vitamin C intake during cold season. This simple juice recipe from @cupfulofkale ensures you’ll get a good slam of the so-called immunity vitamin in one go. If you don’t own a juicer, you can also make this recipe in a blender, then strain through a nut bag or fine sieve.

Ingredients:
7 oranges, halved
4 carrots, roughly chopped
2.5 inch fresh ginger

Method:

  1. Juice the orange, carrot and ginger in a juicer, pour into glasses and serve.

Ingredients:
1 tbsp honey
Juice of 1 lemon
Juice of 1 orange
1 clove of garlic, minced and set aside for 10 minutes
1 tsp fresh ginger, minced
Dash of cayenne pepper
Dash of sea salt
Dash of cinnamon
¼ tsp turmeric
Dash of black pepper
1 tbsp apple cider vinegar with ‘the mother’
1 tbsp hot water

Method:

  1. Whisk honey, turmeric and hot water together until the honey is incorporated and smooth.
  2. Stir in all remaining ingredients and drink immediately.
