Westfield official New Zealand Team and Paralympic Team supporter
Scentre Group, together with the New Zealand Olympic Committee and Paralympics New Zealand, today announced Westfield as the official partner of the New Zealand Olympic Team and official team supporter partner of the NZ Paralympic Team.
The strategic partnership will see all five Westfield destinations across New Zealand transform into official Fan Zones for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. From later this month, customers can visit their local Westfield centre to enjoy dedicated livestreams of key events direct from Paris as well as enjoy Olympic and Paralympic themed events, live music and more.
Scentre Group Chief Executive Officer, Elliott Rusanow said this strategic partnership is about building community connection and creating more reasons for customers to visit and spend time at their local Westfield:
“Our Westfield destinations are community hubs, places people choose to visit to connect and spend their time.
“With the countdown to the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games underway, we’re proud to announce Westfield’s partnership with the New Zealand Olympic and Paralympic Teams.
“We will be giving Kiwis at home the opportunity to come together and cheer on their favourite athletes.
“Westfield destinations will transform into official Fan Zones and open for more hours of the day, including in the early hours of the morning, when many events and matches will be happening live.
“We’re excited to expand on the range of experiences already available at our Westfield destinations with Fan Zones a new and unique way for people to spend their time.
“We’re looking forward to turning our Westfield destinations into the local games village to celebrate with our customers from this month.”
New Zealand Olympic Committee CEO Nicki Nicol shared her excitement at the partnership, saying:
“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Westfield and we can’t wait to see the way they bring the Games to life in their centres and help share the Olympic movement here in New Zealand.”
Paralympics New Zealand CEO, Greg Warnecke, said:
“We are excited that Kiwis will be able to follow the action at the Paralympic Games with the support of Westfield in New Zealand. The Fan Zones will generate an additional buzz around Paris 2024 and further elevate the pinnacle event in the Para sport calendar.”
A full calendar of unmissable moments will be available at Westfield destinations from July through to September 2024.
