Aje , Level 2
Summer is a mood, a feeling, a weightless sense of freedom affecting all of the senses.
As the world continues to move through a state of flux, Australian fashion house Aje’s Resort 22 runway collection offers a dreamscape of summer; a voyage to another time and place, where hearts ran free and souls ran wild. Entitled ‘Scent of Summer’, the collection is a rhapsody to long summers and the bygone beauty of the 1960’s; as imagined by Creative Directors Edwina Forest and Adrian Norris.
Juxtaposing the sublime and the bohemian, the opulent and carefree, ‘Scent of Summer’ encapsulates the jetsetter age; a timeless era of summers without end, spent in places of exotic desire.
Enveloped in colour, the Resort 22 collection playfully contrasts bold neons with sophisticated neutrals, featuring a palette where citrus meets blush, tangerine meets walnut, and fuchsia meets russet.
The collection is anchored by opulent shapes with overblown proportions, voluminous puff sleeves, cut out details, structured forms and floating lengths in a reference to heritage and modern Aje silhouettes.
Ornate and unexpected embellishments transpire in floral sequining and hand beaded daisies applied on transparent organza in cut-out Sixties shapes, while handsewn guipure applique and hand ruched flowers in cotton poplin reflect a long-standing devotion to artisanal techniques and craftsmanship. Developed in-house, Aje created a braiding technique to bring unique textural details throughout the collection.
The season’s hand painted overblown floral prints in signature fabrications of silk linen and cotton poplin are each a symbolic nod to summertime bliss in tones of citrus, olive, fuchsia and wallpaper floral.
A time of escapism; of sensory delectation; ‘Scent of Summer’ is designed to invite your senses to step into the mood, feeling and metaphor of Summer.
