The must-have shoe for winter is inarguably the combat boot. A staple for crisp weather, the combat boot makes a “comeback” every year, which makes us wonder: has the combat boot ever left? The lace-up ankle boot is a wardrobe staple, perfectly paired with both jeans and dresses. We cannot resist a versatile boot- and neither can the likes of Gigi and Bella Hadid, Kaia Gerber and Hailey Bieber – all spotted donning combat boots. With the continued rise of the prairie dress (Muse, Workshop, Maman, Trelise as worn by Stacey Beatson), the combat boot is the perfect shoe to counter its twee implications. It makes sense to pair hyper-feminine clothes with a sturdy punk shoe.
Strategia have gone for a full-on motorcycle look with these, paired with a ribbed knit dress. How sexy and cool are the MAYHEM from Thomas Neuman? Love the buckles and python embossed leather. Even more classic brands like Paul Green are getting in on the act with the VICTOR and JOPLIN. And we can always count on Laura Bellariva for a cool combat.

Be it your regular slip-on flat loafers or a heeled version, this style is here to stay. This year, rock your fav outfits with this polished shoe and look for ones with unique details in the form of buckles or a backless style. Loafers are no longer restricted to "stuffy office wear."
There is a style for everyone, from the more classic/preppy Avril Gau, Paul Green and Gabriele to the sleek See by Chloe bucked point and standout red patent of these Jeannot block heeled loafers. Beau Coops do a great loafer, or if you’re after something different we love the chain embellishment on these Jeannot flatforms and the mixed materials on these Chie Mihara points.
Pair with everything from cropped trousers to a full skirt, or jeans and a white tee.

The western inspired boot trend is going nowhere, with almost every designer we looked at doing a version. They will always be a huge look in Italy, where most of Hollywood’s Spaghetti Western movies were filmed. It makes sense then that Elena Iachi do fabulous western boots in burnished vegetable-dyed leather – all hand crafted in Italy.
Elena Iachi BLUES is back – love these with a ruffled skirt. Thomas Neuman has done the BONNY – cute with a dress. Paul Green have done tan croc GOMEZ. Beau Coops created the low-cut JERMIMA – perfect to elongate the leg. We love the straight shaft of the Laura Bellariva JULIA knee boot in tan suede. Also check out LENNON, LOTUS and ROSWELL from the Italian sisters at AGL. And finally, the aptly named WESTERN from See by Chloe.

Hiking or as one of our fav designers AGL calls them, “mountain booties” are one of the coolest things to put on your feet this winter. No longer reserved for weekends in Wanaka, practical walking boots have become a firm favorite in fashion circles too. Wear them to toughen up a floral tea dress or they look amazing with cropped jeans and a chunky knit. Most of these boots could get you through Outward Bound – or the very least through a Sunday roast and a park walk.
Our fav has to be the AGL ASPEN in chalk, with faux fur accent. The sell-out BRISTOL from Paul Green is back, snapped up by many heading off to Queenstown. Beau Coops have come up with the EGMONT in winter white. We love the girliness of the pink velvet laces on the AGL FRANCES. The Jeannot WANDA in metallic with faux fur collar looks ready to go on a North-pole husky-led sleigh and would surely make Narnia’s white witch green with envy.

With many of our customers at Scarpa favoring the classic or minimalist looks of designers such as Gregory, Nicola Waite and Mahsa – as well as needing something to mix into a corporate wardrobe, there is always a place for sleek, polished or minimalist footwear. The Elena Iachi BOWIE and Jeannot WINONA feature a finer toe. The Paul Green DALLAS and REMY are perfect for a slim pant. Chie Mihara’s EBRO is a winter white slim fit ideal with cropped trousers or a dress. Peter Kaiser KAROLIN gives a fresh look to the classic court. See by Chloe’s KIMBRA and KORY are best sellers for good reason.

Magpies take note! There is always a gorgeous shoe or boot with a difference that we know a customer will just have to have. Enter Embellished! First up is the beautiful jeweled brooch on the Thomas Neuman BRIDGET boots. We can’t wait for the DARIA from Chie Mihara – such a hot party shoe in mixed material metallics. Also by Chie, the ELVIA in snake is a stand out style. Girls who like studs will love the rock chic look of the HILTON and IVANA from Laura Bellarvia.
