Walker & Hall: Native bird rescue initiative

Walker & Hall , Level 2

Purchase any piece from Walker & Hall's Pre-loved collections until July 13th and the Walker & Hall Trust will donate $50 to the Native Bird Rescue on Waiheke Island to help rehabilitate & release native birdlife.

Walker & Hall are proud to call New Zealand home for over 120 years. Believing that we have a responsibility to consider our impact and care for our earth, Walker & Hall continually look for improvements which can be made in all areas of the business. Starting with quality products which last, choosing fine materials which have the benefit of being able to be restored, repaired, and up-cycled to continue their story.

Walker & Hall's longstanding background of integrity and expertise in vintage jewellery allows them to source old pieces through our trade in and second-hand purchasing services, so that they can be cared for and reinvented before starting a new chapter. The pre-loved collections include an array of treasures from genuine and rare Vintage pieces, diverse design in our Déjà vu Collection, and repurposed materials in reclaimed diamonds and recycled chains.

'The abundant bird life on Waiheke is a true blessing. To be startled by crashing Kereru, followed relentlessly by dancing fantails, or more recently catching the cry of the Kaka are all precious shared moments with nature. What dedicated individuals and organisations like Native Bird Rescue have managed to achieve is hugely impressive and, in my experience, unmatched elsewhere in NZ. It is a pleasure to be able to give back to the Island and to those who have made it all possible.'
Joseph Tattersfield - Walker & Hall Managing Director

Native Bird Rescue is an Avian Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation facility, based on Waiheke Island in the Hauraki Gulf of New Zealand. They specialise in fully protected native and endemic birds for environmental conservation aims and are the only DoC permitted facility on the Island. They Rescue, Rehabilitate, Release, Research, Educate and Advocate on behalf of our feathered friends who cannot speak for themselves.

‘In the last year we have admitted over 35 species including many kererū / native wood pigeon, kākā / native parrot, tui / parson bird, kōtare / sacred kingfisher, ruru / morepork and many seabirds including the ever so popular kororā / little blue penguins to name just a few. Our award winning ‘Community Wildlife Connections’ programme enables us to connect our community to the wildlife in their own backyards. We keep the rescuers updated with the journey of the bird each step of the way. This encourages pro-conservation beliefs and actions to protect and restore our vitally important ecosystems. This is our Home and the birds too so every purchase from the Pre-loved collections will make a huge difference to the life of the birds in our care.'
Karen Saunders - Founder, Wildlife Rehabilitator and General Manager.
