Get grooming: 3 ways to up your beauty routine from home
With a little extra time on your hands – and as you eagerly await your next salon visit – consider this your DIY at-home guide to help you achieve ‘beauty goals’ status.
Whether you’re a beauty novice or self-acclaimed expert, these three helpful tips are sure to make even your beauty therapist proud.
Cleanse, moisturise, SPF, repeat
Consistency in your daily skincare routine is key, and sticking to it, particularly while spending more time at home, will help to keep the health and state of your skin a priority.
Your daily skincare mantra; cleanse and moisturise, every day once to twice a day, remains necessary – and don’t forget to apply SPF either via your moisturiser or as a separate step. Fact – did you know SPF is a skincare essential, even if you’re indoors at home? Windows protect us from UVB rays, however not UVA rays, which can cause ageing. Given you have some free time on your hands, now is also a very good time to work a weekly face mask back on to your list your dry, indoorsy skin will thank you for it.

At home brows
It’s been weeks since you were last able to visit your favourite brow salon and your brows could be getting a little out of control.
Thankfully, there roughly 7 million tutorials out there on YouTube and IGTV to help you achieve perfectly shaped brows, otherwise simply follow these simple two steps.
Top tip! If you fill in your eyebrows with brow pencil before tweezing them, it helps save you from over tweezing accidentally.
First up, using an angled brow pencil Bobbi Brown, fill in your brows to your desired shape to create a barrier for yourself so you don’t overdo it. Start off by lifting at the arch. Very lightly outline the top and underneath. Fill in the centre – remembering less is more – to avoid ending up with a sparse situation on your hands.
The perfect DIY mani
Right now, it’s all about the ‘back to basics’ mani, which can be achieved at home in just a few simple steps.
Back to basics mani
1. Add a cuticle oil
2. Use a base coat (to prevent staining your nails with strong colour)
3. Paint with a pop of colour
4. Top coat
If you want to take things to the next level, you can also invest in an at-home Gel Nail Kit available for purchase at Farmers or Life Pharmacy. The kit includes a UV or LED light to set your polish along with both base and topcoats to achieve longer lasting, chip free manicures.
