Kid-friendly Christmas tree lolly platter

Christmas is the season of bring-a-plate, and whether you’re the organised kind or you’re prone to throwing things together last minute, it’s always good to have a few ideas up your sleeve.

This sweet platter is as simple as they come, and the possibilities are truly endless; all the ingredients are long-lasting, so grab a bunch and chuck them in the cupboard, and you’ll never be caught out.

Ingredients

  • 2 packets of Mint Leaves
  • 2 packets of Strawberries and Cream
  • 2 Sour Straps
  • 1 Packet of Skittles
  • 2 Liquorice Allsorts

Head to Countdown, New World or PAK'nSAVE to stock up on all of the essentials to get your lolly platter underway.

Method

  1. Start by creating the wreath with the Strawberries and Creams, leave a gap at the top for your bow.
  2. Now create your tree. Start with two mint leaves to create the tip of the tree. As you add each new row, use one more leaf until you are happy with it.

  1. Now cut the Liquorish Allsorts in half, so they sit at the same height as the leaves and pop them at the bottom to make your trunk.
  2. Carefully place the Skittles in rows on top of the leaves - this part can use a little patience, so don’t stress if it’s not instantly perfect.
  3. Create the bow by cutting and folding the Sour Straps around each other, like the below picture, use some scissors to shape the ends into ribbon edges.

  1. That’s it! You’re done. Merry Christmas.

Tips

  • This isn’t a dessert that travels particularly well, so it’s probably best to assemble it where it will be eaten.
  • Get creative! Add meringues, candy canes, Jaffa’s or marshmallows, whatever your favourites are!
  • Try not to eat any lollies before you’re finished because you’ll end up eating the very one you’ll need.
