Get inspired with these three table settings for Christmas
Christmas is fast approaching, so if you’re hosting it’s time to start thinking about decorating that table. We've put together three fun table setting options to inspire you to get creative and find your own table style this year!
Kiwi beach Christmas
If you’re planning on enjoying Christmas at the beach or a holiday house this year, this picnic-friendly Kiwi table setting brings a great combination of style and practicality.
From the wipe-clean tablecloth to the glass-look plastic tumbler, everything here has been chosen to travel well and also for your convenience. Using bamboo cutlery and paper straws from Kmart is a great way to avoid single-use-plastic, and they also look great on a table.
Proving that a beautiful table doesn’t need to be stuffy or complicated, we have kept it simple with a good quality Christmas centrepiece, statement plates and some Kiwi decorations hanging from the straws from Farmers.
Winter Wonderland kids table
Even though we don’t enjoy a white Christmas in New Zealand, a traditional style really brings the magic to the kids’ table.
We wanted to create a space that was fun, beautiful and invited the kids to get creative, so brown paper from Whitcoulls was the perfect option.
And of course, this meant that each setting needed a little bundle of pencils too, from Typo!
The centrepiece is created with natural nostalgia tree picks and reindeer decorations, and the empty goodie bag on each plate makes collecting your pencils, acorns and reindeer easy at the end of the meal.
We couldn’t go past the cute gingerbread plate from Kikki.K for dessert either!

If you’re looking for a little bit of glam on Christmas Day, then you will be pleased to know that our final setting was the most affordable and the easiest to put together.
To achieve clean lines, we used runners instead of placemats. This is a great way to make your table look less cluttered, especially if you’re trying to fit more settings on it than is ideal.
Placing a statement tree decoration on the centre of the plate is such a simple way to turn a plain table into something really luxe. It also gives your guests a beautiful memento of what was (hopefully) an incredible meal.
We had evening dining in mind with this one, so we wanted to leave lots of room for champagne and food in the middle of the table. This is why we've gone with simple gold Christmas crackers, rather than a more complicated centrepiece.
Consider stemless wineglasses to make all the reaching, passing and cracker pulling a little less tricky, too!
