Your 2026 Westfield Manukau Local Hero is:

Elizabeth Fa'alili
Taime Pasifika Cancer Support

Through her foundation, Elizabeth Fa'alili supports Pasifika families navigating the challenges of cancer by providing culturally relevant care, connection and a network of support.

Elizabeth started Taime Pasifika Cancer Support after experiencing first-hand how difficult it can be to navigate the health system.

She explains, “I’ve lived this journey myself. As a breast cancer survivor, and with my husband surviving testicular cancer, I know how isolating it can feel, even with a loving family around you. What I longed for was a Pasifika space where people truly understood what I was going through, and when I couldn’t find one, I created it.”

Now with a team of volunteers behind her, Elizabeth directly helps over 1,000 people affected by cancer while also supporting a growing online community who look to the foundation for culturally grounded guidance and connection. She gives up countless hours to organise gatherings, build partnerships and advocate for Pasifika patients.

“Our work has grown through faith, hard mahi and a genuine love for our Pasifika cancer community,” says Elizabeth.

She adds, “I never want anyone in our community to face cancer feeling alone, and that commitment is what drives me every day. When a community comes together with love and purpose, even the smallest team can create life-changing impact.”

We’d like to thank and acknowledge our finalists who will receive a $5K grant for the organisation they represent.
