We congratulate all of our finalists and recognise the important contribution they make to the local community.

This year Westfield will award 126 grants across Australia and New Zealand totalling $1.25M. Now in its 7th year, the Westfield Local Heroes program will have contributed $8.6M to more than 860 successful Local Hero organisations since it began.

Voting has now closed and the Westfield Local Heroes will be announced 15 October.

Meet our Local Hero finalists

Carleen Craig

Life Education Trust Counties Manukau

Loyal. Committed. Caring.

Carleen Craig has worked with Life Education Trust Counties Manukau for seven years, helping to educate 6,000 tamariki (children) annually. She teaches about mental and physical health, resilience and self-worth using technology and Harold the Giraffe in a mobile classroom. Carleen designs unique learning experiences, addressing issues like vaping and substance abuse, making a significant community impact.

If Carleen is successful in the community vote, the grant money will ensure the Healthy Harold programme continues to reach over 6,000 school children each year.

Christian Prescott

Te Raranga Charitable Trust

Leader. Advocate. Champion.

Christian Prescott founded Te Raranga Charitable Trust in 2021 to support families during COVID-19. Through initiatives like a sneaker donation drive, mental health programs and financial literacy workshops, Christian empowers youth and helps to build community resilience. He also promotes environmental sustainability by redirecting sneakers from landfills.

If Christian is successful in the community vote, the grant money will ensure the continuation of his sneaker program, covering the cost of cleaning products, custom sneaker boxes, rent, transportation and marketing expenses.

Nadine Morton

Sweet Louise

Compassionate. Sincere. Kind.

Nadine Morton, a support coordinator for Sweet Louise in South Auckland, passionately supports women with advanced breast cancer. The women currently supported are between 32 and 88 years old; many have dependent children and are struggling financially. Nadine’s efforts help make their journey a little bit easier.

If Nadine is successful in the community vote, she will use the funds to support Sweet Louise's services in South Auckland. These include one-on-one care, home visits, monthly support group meetings, wellness vouchers and hardship support.
