Get a free skin cancer spot check by a Melanoma New Zealand nurse

Did you know that New Zealand has one of the highest rates of melanoma in the world? More than 7,200 melanomas are diagnosed in New Zealand annually and around 300 New Zealanders die from melanoma each year.

But melanoma can be preventable, and if detected and treated early enough, is almost always curable.

That’s why learning how to protect your skin, knowing what to look for, and having your skin checked regularly by a professional is so important.

The free spot check events are being run in partnership with Melanoma New Zealand’s sun-safe sponsor La Roche-Posay, who will be providing free Anthelios SPF50+ sunscreen samples at the events.

This is a unique opportunity to receive a five-minute non-invasive free spot check* from a trained nurse and learn life-saving advice and information about melanoma.

*No appointment is necessary. However, as this is a public event, spot checks will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. If you cannot be seen, you can book an online consultation with a Nurse Educator here. The spot checks are a great way to engage in conversation about the importance of early detection, but it is not a full body check and a diagnosis is not provided. Regular full body skin checks by your GP, dermatologist, nurse, surgeon or plastic surgeon are still recommended.
