Meet our Westfield Local Hero finalists

Amanda Butland

Everybody Eats

Warm. Grounded. Trustworthy.

For more than eight years, Amanda Butland has been a constant and caring presence for people experiencing hardship, helping them feel welcomed, valued and connected. Through her work with Everybody Eats, she has helped grow a pop-up initiative into multiple community restaurants serving pay-what-you-can meals made from rescued surplus food.

If Amanda is successful, the grant will support core operating costs at Everybody Eats' Glen Innes and Onehunga restaurants, providing 4,000 meals to people affected by food insecurity and social isolation.

Ella Pracy

Recreate NZ

Exuberant. Compassionate. Authentic.

Hundreds of young people living with disabilities benefit from Ella Pracy’s volunteering with Recreate NZ. Her own experience with anxiety and personal loss first brought her to volunteering in 2022 and she has since dedicated more than 1,000 hours to creating life changing experiences for young people. Ella has helped build their confidence and belonging through social events, outdoor adventures and multi-day programmes.

If Ella is successful, the grant will fund additional programmes and activities for young people living with disability and neurodivergent young people.

Ellie Cope

Sweet Louise

Empowering. Uplifting. Genuine.

Ellie Cope helps ensure women living with incurable breast cancer do not face their journey alone. Supporting more than 90 women through Sweet Louise, she provides practical, emotional and social support, builds trusted relationships, and connects members with services that help them navigate some of life's most challenging moments.

If Ellie is successful, the grant will support coordinator salary costs, community support group meetings, care packages, and a family support program for women living with incurable breast cancer.
